Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Dota Captain (dotacaptain.com) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the service.

By creating an account or using the site, you acknowledge the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information: email address, password (stored securely by our auth provider — we do not store plaintext passwords), and display name you choose at signup.

Gameplay and profile data: captain rating, level progress, match history, draft and simulation records, and leaderboard placement generated through your use of the service.

Technical data: session cookies and similar tokens needed to keep you signed in, plus basic usage analytics described below.

How we use information

We use collected information to authenticate you, maintain your profile, record matches and ratings, display leaderboard standings, improve reliability, and respond to support or legal requests.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

Authentication and database hosting are provided by Supabase. Supabase processes account credentials and profile data on our behalf under their own terms and privacy practices.

The site may be hosted on Vercel. Vercel Analytics may collect aggregated, non-identifying usage metrics such as page views and performance data.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser storage required for sign-in sessions and application state. These are necessary for core functionality rather than third-party advertising.

You can clear cookies in your browser, but doing so will sign you out and may reset local preferences.

When we share information

We share information with infrastructure providers only as needed to operate the service.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or to respond to valid legal requests.

Display names and public leaderboard statistics are visible to other users of the service by design.

Data retention

We retain account and gameplay data while your account is active and as needed to operate leaderboards and match history.

If you request deletion or we terminate an account, we will delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or backup purposes.

Your choices and rights

You may update your display name through in-app profile settings where available.

You may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data by contacting us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time subject to applicable law.

Children's privacy

The service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

Security

We use industry-standard practices through our providers to protect data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International users

If you access the service from outside the country where our providers operate, your information may be processed in jurisdictions with different data protection laws.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when updates are posted.

Material changes may be noted on the site. Continued use after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
